Tiny Hooves, Huge Hearts: Magic and Tinkerbell Bring Healing to St. Augustine House ~ Summer 2025

Ladner, Delta, BC – Residents of St. Augustine House lit up with joy last week as Green Acres Therapy Horses paid a special visit, bringing with them two remarkable miniature horses – Magic and Tinkerbell, known for their gentle natures and big hearts.

The pair, celebrated as Mental Health Ambassadors, offered calming, close-up interactions that eased loneliness, reduced anxiety, and sparked heartfelt smiles among seniors at the care home.

“Tinkerbell and Magic have a natural way of making people feel seen and loved.

It’s profound and very special what occurs during our visits,” said Pamela and Jacqueline Green, founders of Green Acres

“It’s our life’s purpose and mission to share the extraordinary healing power of our horses with our community and those who need them.”

Miniature Therapy Horses are uniquely suited to work with vulnerable populations.

Their small stature makes them approachable, their gentle nature fosters trust, and their presence promotes emotional wellbeing and connection.

The visit was made possible in partnership with Rick’s Heart Foundation as part of its ongoing elder care outreach initiatives, which also include Music for Heart

– a program designed to uplift seniors through providing access to music in care homes.

Rick, founder of Rick’s Heart foundation, surprised residents by arriving in his Pink Pony Crew “Giddy Up” shirt and official ” Pony Crew uniform. His visit was as much a highlight as the ponies themselves.

“It truly takes a village to make this world a better place,” said Pamela Green.

“And we’re proud to leave tiny, indelible hoofprints on every heart our horses touch.”

Green Acres Therapy Horses : Bring Joy to Care-home Residents at Kinsmen Village

Tsawwassen, BC – Jacqueline and Pamela Green, Green Acres Therapy Horses, in partnership with Rick’s Heart Foundation and the elder care outreach initiative, “Music For Heart” that uplifts seniors, by providing them with access to music and musical instruments.

The therapy horse visit, brought smiles, comfort, and meaningful connection to residents of Kinsmen Village with their beloved miniature therapy horses and mental health ambassadors Tinkerbell and Magic.

The visit took place in the beautiful, English style garden courtyard of the care home, where residents enjoyed an afternoon filled with joy, tears of happiness, and heartfelt reminiscing.

The horses’ gentle presence touched many hearts-encouraging conversation, sparking memories, shared stories, connection and lifting spirits.

Some residents who had been quiet began to speak, sharing personal stories of the horses they had owned or known in their lives.

One recalled Belgian horses, another residents’ daughter told us her Dad had Clydesdales. Her Dad couldn’t take his teary eyes off the horses.

The visit even included a special moment with the Greens’ own mother-in-law, Joan Hogg.

“Our therapy horses have a way of making people feel truly seen and loved,” said co-founder Jacqueline Green.”

The intimate interactions they share with residents are deeply profound and impactful. It’s beautiful to witness the joy, connection, and healing they bring.”

The afternoon was filled with laughter, heartfelt smiles, shared memories, some tears and a renewed sense of connection among the residents.

The residents were so grateful and were asking when we could come back for another visit.

Magic and Tinkerbell once again proved that even the smallest horses can leave the biggest indelible hoof-prints on every heart they touch.
