Sew It — Empowering Others Through Sewing

Cover_Sewing (2)

A part of our mission and heart is to bridge the gap for community members from where they are to a stable, healthy, and happier future. Over ten years ago, we helped launch a sewing program at Union Gospel Mission called ‘Repair to Wear’ that has touched hundreds of women’s lives through the years. The program is now a social enterprise platform for women through Union Gospel Mission.

Due to the incredible success stories with the sewing program throughout the years at Union Gospel Mission, we wanted to invest in a similar program. In late 2023, we connected with the ideal partner at City Dream Centre Surrey. The staff and volunteers at CDCS are full of love and compassion and walk in kindness. The first class started the ‘Sew It’ program in April 2024!

This first ‘Sew It’ class graduated in April 2024. We are incredibly proud of this group for their patience and practice learning a new skill. The next sewing class begins this month. We are all grateful to City Dream Centre Surrey and its volunteers for running this program and making the dream a reality.

We look forward to seeing the lives that are to be impacted by this ‘Sew it’ program.

“We rise by lifting others.”
