Recovery Day BC has become Canada’s largest mental health and addiction recovery street festival, with over 150 information booths and vendors, over 20,000 people, bands, speakers, a kids zone, and a beautiful memorial area.

Addiction affects every Canadian, with loved ones, employees, coworkers, friends, and neighbors, who may need help or are in recovery. Over 10,000 people in BC alone have died from an overdose. As a community, we need to recover out loud, raise our voices in unity, and share our messages of hope. While our allies learn about the many pathways of recovery available in BC, Recovery Day brings awareness to the possibility of recovery.

This year, Recovery Day in BC had the support of over 100 healthcare service providers and other 100+ vendors who are celebrating with us, from food trucks to artisans.

We were present at the event at our information booth and with our Vintage Pink Firetruck in the kids’ zone.

Recovery is real, available, attainable, and sustainable. It has been a long and difficult fight to get to where we are today with recovery starting to be accepted and even celebrated openly and without stigma. The more we talk about recovery, the more we will do to reduce the harm of addiction to our loved ones and communities.

The festival’s 10th Anniversary took place in New Westminster last September 10th.
