We’re thrilled to announce that Heart for Music has officially surpassed 250 care homes across Canada!

Our 250th care home was Kennebec Manor – Kings Way LifeCare Alliance in St. John, New Brunswick, and we couldn’t be prouder to welcome them to the Heart for Music community. What began as a small grassroots initiative to bring joy and connection through music has grown into a national movement reaching thousands of older adults.

Over the years, the program has celebrated many exciting milestones:

– Reaching 100 care homes in British Columbia alone
– Donating percussion and outdoor instruments to 10 care homes to encourage music-making
– Receiving heartwarming feedback like this note from a care home partner:

The residents love being able to listen to music from ‘back in the day’. Lots of residents recognize songs their parents taught them to dance to, songs they would sing at church, play in bands with friends, etc.”

We now support 254 care homes in Canada, reaching over 42,000 residents and delivering more than 107,000 hours of music enjoyment across the country over the past five years. Every care home we partner with brings us one step closer to our mission: reducing isolation and bringing joy to our senior population through music and community.

There are still thousands of older adults in Canada who lack access to personalized, engaging resources, especially those living in long-term care. Music is a powerful and accessible tool for connection, and our program helps meet this need by providing personalized playlists, music devices, and community music events designed specifically for seniors.

We’re committed to reaching even more care homes across Canada, especially in our hometown of Surrey and throughout the Fraser Valley. With your support, we can continue growing this program and bringing the gift of music to even more seniors who need it most.
